Movie Talk: Made of Honor and Music and Lyrics

November 15, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Both movies are cute. Actually, I just noticed this line on the box, “He’s a maid of honor on a mission to prove he’s the best man.” That sums up the plot for Made of Honor. It’s comical and sweet, but if I were Hannah, I wouldn’t have changed my mind that easily.

Music and Lyrics made me laugh the minute the movie started with the video of Pop! Goes my Heart, a parody of the 80’s. I loved the movie. Hugh Grant isn’t a bad singer. DrewBarrymore can carry a note, too. Kristen Johnson’s the older sister who was crazy about the 80’s group back in the day. Her role reminded me of Bonnie Hunt’s role in Jerry Maguire. Anyway, I have rewatched parts of the movie on YouTube.

Movie Talk: P.S. I Love You

June 23, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I remember snickering to my husband when I saw the trailer for this movie. Well, I actually enjoyed it, even though it took me 4 hours to watch it (son kept waking up and demanding attention and the dvd had scratches). It is a romance comedy. My favorite character was actually Holly’s (Hilary Swank) sister, but Kathy Bates (“I’m your biggest fan”) and Harry Connick, Jr. (I couldn’t stop picturing him as a serial killer, though) gave good performances. I’ve never seen Gerard Butler or Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but thought they were bonuses to the movie. Lisa Kudrow seems to play the same character in whatever she does. Gina Gershon, she looks familiar.

Movie Talk: 27 Dresses (2008)

June 20, 2009 · 1 Comment

Not a book, but I don’t get to watch movies very often. Our library allows 3 videos per family to be borrowed for 3 days and Mads usually gets the picks. I picked 2 for myself this time, and it turns out that they’re not due till Monday probably because of the Norfield Country Fair traffic.

So, I just finished watching 27 dresses, and I must say that some of the dresses were hideous. I was a little annoyed at the color at the beginning, but I guess there was a point to that. I also didn’t notice when it became normal. This movie was cute, but Enchanted is still my favorite chick flick. It was fun watching Cyclops in another prince charming role. I like Katherine Heigl, but there is something about her voice that bugs me. Next movie is P.S. I love you. Stay tuned!
