Today started like any other day with dropping off Mads in the morning (we were right on time; usually we’re a few minutes late), going home with the intention to catch a few more zzzz’s, and picking up Mads. We squeezed in some cleaning and some electronic communication and an episode of Desperate Housewives on the DVR. I was a little late to pick up Mads, but found her cheerfully helping her teacher with clean-up. Then we rushed to a noon meeting of the WNNC Mommy Book Club and discussed Doomed Queens. We rushed out of that congregation because I had to return a late library book to Westport Public Library and get gas. I have more to say on this because it’s only the 2nd time in my entire life that I have ever pumped my own gas. Needless to say, it was quite the spectacle for the cashier peeping out the window. First, I pulled in and turned off the engine only to realize the gas tank is on the other side. Oops. So, I tried to make some big maneuver to be on the correct side. I managed it without incident and then proceeded to figure out how to pump. I remembered to unlock the gas tank, so that was fine. Also read and followed the steps. The one other time I pumped gas was for the other car and I had to lift the handle first to pump. Ok, it took forever that time because neither I nor my friend knew what handle it was referring to. All the other times I have had full service in Riverdale and in Ridgefield. Well, it’s no biggie. Ok, then we had to rush to the Little Gym. We would have been on time had it not been for Fresh Market being finally opened. FM, you have made my life hellish with the parking situation. We had to park all the way in the back and I had to wake 2 sleeping children and run/walk in the rain. I had to quickly change Mads into her leotard. Too bad I forgot her tap and ballet shoes. We did take a quick walk into FM to see what the hype is all about. It’s very open and has a lot of good stuff. It reminds me of Whole Foods, which I don’t shop at, so I guess I’ll only use it for last minute stuff. Or I could just go to TJ.

I have to laugh every time you’re talking about anything to do with your car, driving and gassing! I guess this is because you grew up in a city? Most of us have been driving for way longer than we care to remember. I can’t wait to hear you talk about it this winter! Yikes!
